- Expression of Interest are invited for Advancing Gender Equality Opportunities in Kenya's Fisheries. To Gain a Comprehensive Understanding of Labor Market Outcomes and Challenges Encountered by Individuals in Kenya's Fisheries Sector, Particularly Focusing on Women, as Well as to Assess the Sector's Adaptability to Climate Change, the Main Objective of this Activity is to Conduct a Georeferenced Household Survey. The Survey will be Conducted in Eight Lake/River Counties and Six Coastal Counties. By Concentrating on These Specific 12 Coastal and Inland Communities, the Survey will Yield More Comprehensive and Detailed Data regarding Labor Market Dynamics within the Fisheries Sector. This, in Turn, will Enable Us to Address Critical Issues and Tailor Interventions More Effectively. Additionally, the Household-Based Survey will Explore Opportunities for Diversifying Livelihoods by Engaging in More Sustainable and Resilient Blue Economy Sectors, Such as Marine and Island Aquaculture, along with the Relevant Skills in Demand. The Collected Data will be Disaggregated by Gender, Allowing for Vulnerability Measurement across Various Population Groups, with a Particular Emphasis on Women and Youth. Additionally, the Georeferenced Data Collected will be Linked with External Climate and Weather-Related Data Obtained from Existing Databases. This Linkage will Facilitate the Assessment of Climate-Related Hazard Exposure for Individuals Engaged in Fisheries. To Provide Additional Context and Nuance, a Series of Qualitative Focus Group Discussions (Fgds) and Semi-Structured Interviews (Siis) will Complement the Quantitative Data Collection, Further Refining Our Understanding of the Collected Information.
