Description:
Request for proposals are invited for Provision of Record of Processing Activities Data protection laws have been implemented across various jurisdictions to guide how organizations handle personal data. This has led to a shift in the handling of personal data to ensure compliance with respective data protection laws. Globally regulators have driven the implementation of data protection by closely monitoring the compliance of the entities they have jurisdiction over. The EU (European Union) launched General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2017 and had issued fines worth 332 million USD by December 2022. In Kenya the Data Protection Act was enacted in November 2019, Uganda enacted its data protection act in February 2019, Rwanda enacted a data protection law in October 2021 while Tanzania enacted a data privacy law in November 2022. The above-mentioned jurisdictions have statutes that govern the collection, processing and storage of personal data by government and private actors. They establish an ecosystem of rights and obligations that operationalizes the right to privacy enshrined in respective country constitutions. The objectives and scope of respective in-country data protection laws are to regulate the processing of personal data and to ensure that the processing of personal data is guided by the laws. An increasing number of jurisdictions where KCB group has a presence have data protection laws with regulators appointed to monitor compliance. The regulators have begun to issue fines and enforcement notices indicating a maturity in compliance monitoring and surveillance by regulators. There is a need to collect under a single repository a record of all processing activities to give a more accurate picture of the amount of personal data held; how the data flows in and out of KCB Group; refined records of who has access to the data and how is it being used. There is a need to close any gaps that may arise from undocumented personal data processing activities. This initiative will also play a role in the implementation of the rights of data subjects which are listed as follows ▪ Access to personal data relating to him/her in custody of the bank in a timely manner. ▪ Be informed of the use of the personal data. ▪ To object the processing of all or part of the data. ▪ Correct or delete misleading/false data. ▪ Data portability rights
