  • Expression of Interest are invited for TA for IFC's Kenya SME Insurance Diagnostic (Scoping of Financial SME Service Providers). Publication Date: 19-Jan-2023 Expression of Interest Deadline: 30-Jan-2023 ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION IFC seeks to recruit a Firm to conduct a detailed analysis of potential distribution channels that can be used to sell and service insurance to MSMEs in Kenya. This technical assistance will include identifying potential distribution partners, deep dive into their existing product set, identification of internal motivation and challenges to introduce insurance, and an analysis of a suitable price point/product features required by the target sector. SCOPE OF WORK PHASE 1: Market Scoping The Firm will support the IFC diagnostic project by helping to identify suitable distribution partners that can be utilized to reach MSMEs. This assignment will focus on Financial Service Providers (FSPs). The Firm will map out and survey FSPs that lend or provide other financial services to MSMEs, and conduct embedded insurance needs assessments considering the needs of both the MSMEs and FSPs. PHASE 2: Product Development Support The Firm will be expected to support IFC in engaging local insurers to secure products that meet the needs of MSMEs and the respective distribution partners. The support may include but is not limited to providing data to support the product development process, answering clarifying questions concerning demand, providing more details of the customer journey and doing product / market fit analysis on products to determine which product features or price points are most likely to be acceptable. PHASE 3: Support Go-To-Market Once the product has been negotiated with insurers the Firm will be responsible for approaching, pitching, negotiating, and supporting the launch of the product with the distribution partners that were approached in Phase 1 of the project. This will require close collaboration not only with the distribution partner but also with IFC and other IFC consultants as required to ensure that product implementation is optimized in relation to the customer journey and how the product will be operationally supported moving forward.
